ABOUT

How do we create more, faster, better open data in NSW? This is the challenge we set at the Open Data Policy Challenge for policymakers, technologists, civic hackers, app developers, academics, journalists and data enthusiasts to prototype policy responses, tools or programs to escalate the creation and use of open data

A collaborative “hothouse” day to encourage greater interest in and energy about open data.

This challenge-style event brought together the NSW Government Open Data policy team with participants from the open data community – policymakers, technologists, civic hackers, app developers, academics, journalists and data enthusiasts – for an day of discussions, drafting, planning and solving.

Teams framed and then developed prototype policy responses and implementation tools or programs to advance the use of open data. Teams pitched their ideas and prototypes to a judging panel, including the Minister, and open audience at a special session at the end of the day.
